These gorgeous, crispy, intensely flavorful onion flakes are made from Safrane Globe onions, a particularly sweet variety with a pungent bite. They are dried within days of harvesting, and the flavor is s caramelized and savory, it's hard to believe that the only ingredient is onions — but it is!
The raw onions are prized for their size and firm texture, as well as their beautiful bronzed skin, and the drying process concentrates their natural sugars and deepens their flavor. These small, crunchy flakes are out-of-this-world delicious as a garnish or substitute for fresh onions in a cooked dish. They're also perfectly suited for salads, savory breads and roasted proteins. Just a few days after harvest, Tyler trucked a few thousand pounds of onions and garlic a short drive up the road to our co-packing facility, where they were immediately dehydrated, capturing the complex and intense aroma that are characteristic of only the freshest produce.
