Our Purple Dulse is a savory, umami, colorful seaweed that is sustainably wild-harvested from the pristine waters of the North Atlantic Ocean along the rocky coasts of the Gulf of Maine between the US and Canada. It's solar-dried to preserved its nutrients, which include protein, dietary fiber, vitamin A (beta-carotene), iron, potassium, magnesium, chlorophyll, trace ocean minerals and B vitamins. Dulse is also an excellent source of iodine!
Purple Dulse is perfect for soups, stews, stir-fries, sauces, salads and any other dish that needs an extra oomph. Use in cooking and garnishing for an irresistible nutty flavor or as an alternative to salt. It makes a great accompaniment to starches and sharp cheeses. Purple Dulse can be used raw or cooked.
- Make a tahini dressing with dulse, garlic powder and lemon juice
- Sprinkle over roasted vegetables
- Use to top avocado or tomato toast
- Add to your smoothies

We worked with Maine Coast Sea Vegetables to source our Purple Dulse. They are dedicated to sustainable harvesting of many types of seaweed for nutrient-dense, delicious cooking. It is their mission to provide high quality North Atlantic sea vegetables as user-friendly foods, supported by reliable information; and to build respectful, long-term relationships with our customers, suppliers, employees and the environment.
- umami flavor
A game changer!
What a surprise, and LOVING the umami-type of taste enhancement.
Umami rich! Who needs salt?
I was not familiar with dulse until this bottle arrived. It's precisely as described, giving that umami flavor and is a great alterntive for salt!
I’ve used it often. In soups, marinades, roasted vegetables and popcorn. I will be ordering more right away.
Will need more (larger container in the future?)
Move over, pepper. This is now my go-to for soups, especially red lentil soups of any kind. I also tried it on Rancho Gordo's red pop corn with sea salt and butter, best snack ever.
Game Changing Hero Spice
This is so incredibly delicious and versatile, I wonder how I ever got along without it. My wife shakes it on toast with butter or cream cheese, we eat it liberally sprinkled on rice with soy sauce or Bachan's Japanese BBQ sauce, and we're finding new ways to use it all the time. My kitchen will never be without Purple Dulse again! Love that the flavor of the ocean, in all its complexity, is contained within this amazing healthful lil dude.
