Our Alphonso Mango Amchur is grown and produced by the Ketkar family on their ancestral land in the hills of Ratnagiri. The Alphonso mango is among the most highly prized varieties, and Ratnagiri is perhaps the most famous mango-growing region in India, if not the world!
Alphonso mangos make this amchur a flavor powerhouse: refreshingly bright and slightly salty, it's reminiscent of lemon zest but with a tropical edge. It elegantly complements flavors of savory and sweet dishes alike, elevating them to another level.
To make the amchur, green mangos are grated with a little salt, dried in the sun and then ground into a powder. It's an essential ingredient in chaats and other Indian snacks, but it's also a perfect tart & savory topping for pretty much everything you'll ever cook.

We visited the Ketkar family's mango farm in India in March of 2020. The farm is now in the hands of the 4th generation of farmers, who purchased back their family's farmland after they lost it due to hard times. The farm is idyllic — here's a video that we took during our visit.
The Ketkar family specializes in growing the most delicious Alphonso mangoes. The famous mango varietal is native to India and is widely considered the "champagne of mangoes" for its intense sweetness, tender texture and intoxicating aroma.
While they mainly sell fresh mangoes across India, a portion of the mangoes fall off the trees or get picked before they're ripe. Instead of throwing these mangoes away, they dry them into the most magical and potent amchur we've ever tried.
