Cranberries and mulling spices combine to create a festive seasonal cocktail.
Ingredients
SIMPLE SYRUP

12 oz fresh (or frozen) cranberries, washed

1.5 cups water

1 cup sugar

Β½ tsp Wassail Mulling Spice
COCKTAIL
-
2 oz bourbon whiskey
-
2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
-
1 Tbsp simple syrup (above)

fresh orange or lemon
-
ice
Directions
Place fresh cranberries, water, sugar, and Wassail in a saucepan. Bring mixture up to medium heat so cranberries soften and burst, and sugar completely dissolves. Continue to simmer for about 5-10 minutes.
Remove from heat and allow mixture to cool. Strain out the cranberries and discard (or repurpose), saving the syrup.
Shake the bourbon whiskey, bitters, 1 Tbsp of the simple syrup, and a squeeze of orange or lemon juice in a cocktail shaker with ice for about 10-15 seconds. Strain and serve in a glass over ice, and garnish with orange or lemon peel.
