"Easy stovetop chocolate pudding is flexible: you can add a little more sugar if you like it sweeter, or substitute half-and-half or cream for some of the milk, or add an extra tablespoon or two of butter if you prefer it to be luxuriously indulgent. It’s all up to you. My favorite upgrade? A splash of vanilla extract to really drive home the fragrance of homemade pudding, served with whipped cream!"
Ingredients
-
¾ cup Royal Cinnamon Hot Chocolate
-
3 Tbsp cornstarch
-
2 ½ cups whole milk
-
2 Tbsp butter
-
1 to 2 Tbsp Golden Crystal Turbinado Sugar (optional)
-
1 tsp Nyanza Vanilla Extract (optional)
Directions
In a heavy-bottomed medium saucepan, whisk together hot chocolate and cornstarch until combined, then whisk in milk.
Set over medium heat and bring to a simmer, whisking often, about 5 minutes. Cook on a simmer, reducing heat to low if necessary, until mixture thickens and turns smooth and shiny, about 3 minutes.
Remove from heat and whisk in butter, sugar and vanilla (if desired). Portion into individual glass jars or bowls, cover with a lid and refrigerate until set, at least 2 hours.
