To prepare a latte, whisk 2 teaspoons into 1 cup of simmering milk and sweeten as desired. Beyond the mug, use it to add warmth to stews, baked goods or roasted vegetables, or sprinkle over oatmeal, yogurt or rice. It’s a familiar comfort, elevated with exceptional ingredients.

Sourcing

Partner farmers in Afghanistan harvesting crocus flowers in a field to produce Burlap & Barrel Herati Saffron.

For our Classics Reinvented Seasonings, we use the same single origin spices our customers already love, sourced through close partnerships with farmers around the world. Those ingredients come together in familiar, easy-to-use blends that make exceptional spices part of everyday cooking.

Our saffron is cultivated by a cooperative of farmers in the deserts of Herat province in western Afghanistan, where saffron has grown for thousands of years. During the brief harvest season in November and December, farmers begin work at dawn, hand-plucking purple crocus flowers before the desert sun can wilt them. Each flower produces just three crimson stigmas, which are carefully extracted and sun-dried by hand and are selected for the highest grade, often called super negin or sargol.
