Sweet, smoky and just the right amount of heat, our Sweet Mesquite BBQ brings big flavor to every bite.
Inspired by classic BBQ potato chips, it pairs the warm sweetness of wild mesquite pods — a native plant with deep Indigenous roots and beloved in kitchens for its naturally smoky-sweet depth — with panela cane sugar, sun-dried tomato, garlic, onion and smoked pimentón paprika for a savory-sweet seasoning that’s as versatile as it is craveable.
Lightly salted to enhance and balance the flavors, it’s perfect as a rub, marinade base or seasoning for anything you want to give a touch of smoky-sweet depth. Rub onto grilled chicken, toss with roasted veggies, or stir into beans for backyard BBQ flavor any night of the week.
Familiar and comforting, yet elevated with extraordinary ingredients — this is BBQ the way it should be.

Sourcing

For our Classics Reinvented Seasonings, we use the same single origin spices our customers already love, sourced through close partnerships with farmers around the world. Those ingredients come together in familiar, easy-to-use blends that make exceptional spices part of everyday cooking.
Sweet Mesquite BBQ is developed around our wild mesquite powder from northern Argentina. Mesquite has sustained desert-dwelling communities across the Americas for thousands of years, with its sweet pods traditionally harvested, stored and ground into flour for breads, cakes and drinks. The trees also play an important ecological role in arid landscapes. As legumes, they enrich depleted soils by fixing nitrogen, and their broad canopies provide food and shelter in environments where both are scarce.
Our mesquite comes from Santiago del Estero, one of Argentina’s hottest and driest regions, where mesquite trees, known locally as algarrobos, thrive despite extreme conditions. Highly valued by local communities, the trees support soil health, provide shade and produce nutrient-rich pods for people and livestock. Once fully mature, the pods are harvested, dried and milled into a naturally sweet, gently smoky powder. In this blend, that wild mesquite brings depth and warmth, grounding a familiar BBQ seasoning in a specific place, tradition and way of growing.
