Our Purple Dulse is a savory, umami, colorful seaweed that is sustainably hand-harvested from the pristine waters in the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Canada. It's perfect for soups, stews, stir-fries, sauces, salads and any other dish that needs an extra oomph. Use in cooking and garnishing for an irresistible nutty flavor or as an alternative to salt. It also makes a great accompaniment to starches and sharp cheeses.

This dulse is solar-dried to preserved its nutrients, which include protein, dietary fiber, vitamin A (beta-carotene), iron, potassium, magnesium, chlorophyll, trace ocean minerals and B vitamins. It's also an excellent source of iodine!

SOURCING

Sourcing image

We work with a couple of super-friendly, very knowledgeable seaweed harvesters to bring you this extraordinary dulse from the cold, pristine waters of the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Canada.

Duncan and Colton are the owners of a seaweed company, and they're also best friends. They hand-harvest all the seaweed, then sun-dry it and grind it at their own facility.

When they aren't harvesting seaweed, Colton and Duncan are fishing for lobsters in the same waters. Lobster-fishing is their main source of income, and the seaweed business they run on the side produces some of the best seaweed we've tasted anywhere!

We are so happy to be connected with them and support the work they do in this beautiful part of the coastline in Canada.
